Internet café run by Cazucá youth opens its doors to the public

Ten youth from the Cazucá community are now proudly operating the first location of MegaRed Internet Café. The café is running at full capacity from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm. The  youth also host daily classes in computer literacy for the entire community, which they expect will increase their number of clients tremendously.

Over 58 Cazucá youth received an average of 120 hours of training from Ahmsa’s partners in subjects such as computer literacy, sales, marketing, accounting, and economic solidarity. In a community with a history of violence, displacement, and extreme poverty, MegaRed provides the access to knowledge and the safe space that are necessary to create a better future for the neighborhood.

Says MegaRed’s precocious 17-year-old manager, Nelson Obanda, “Our dream is to open more locations and to keep teaching more youth the skills that we’ve learned. Thank you for giving us such an important opportunity to totally change our lives, giving us the chance to choose a better future for ourselves.”
