On June 26, 2009, ahmsa inaugurated a community center in Los Altos de Florida, Soacha. Ahmsa coordinated a participatory needs assessment and the construction of the community center under the auspices of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. The community participated in every step of the process, from the needs assessment to the community center construction. Ahmsa will coordinate activities at the center, alongside community leaders and other organizations operating in the area. The environmentally friendly center includes a community training room, medical center, garden, and community kitchen. The Developing Minds Foundation and Just Cauz Foundation provided funding for the project.
